“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will tell of all Your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and exult in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High God.”
Psalm 9.1-2
“I sing a song of the saints of God,
Patient and brave and true.”
From the old hymn “I Sing a Song of the Saints of God”
God blesses us in so many ways. One significant way is that God raises up kind people, people who contribute so much to making the world a better place. Thankfully, there are so many of them. Mr. Rogers said “When I was a boy and would see scary things in the news, my mother would always say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”
Let us lift up these helpers before the throne of God.
Let Us Pray:
Holy One of every joy and every blessing, we give thanks for those who are doing so much for so many. We give you thanks for raising them up for the benefit of others. They face the same struggles and dangers as we all do, and they keep going anyway. Refresh their spirits. Renew their strength. Help us let them know that we honor and appreciate them. There are so many of them, and we are grateful for all of them.
Blessed Lord, we lift up
All the medical folks;
Fire, Rescue, Ambulance, and Police;
Those who feed us, farm workers, packers, truckers, store folks;
Teachers who are exploring new virtual ways to teach;
Scientists working to ease the pandemic;
Leaders who try to steer safe policies;
Neighbors looking after neighbors;
Those who pray and pray and pray.
We also pray for… (here you can pray for those not listed above)
Holy One, keep them safe; bless them; hold them in your love now and always. Hold us to, we too ask for your love. This we pray in the name of our lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Amen.
